FAQS

WHAT IS HYPNOTHERAPY?

Hypnotherapy is a form of therapy that uses hypnosis - an altered state of consciousness.

It uses the power of suggestion to encourage positive change.

A hypnotherapist will use relaxation techniques to help you reach a relaxed state in the conscious part of your mind, also allowing the subconscious part to be more open to suggestion.

Once you are in a state of hypnosis, the hypnotherapist uses suggestion techniques (where they 'talk' to your subconscious) to help encourage the change you're looking for.

HOW DOES HYPNOSIS FEEL?

Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state of mind that we all experience at various times - and in various depths - throughout the day.

Often explained as a 'streamlined state of focused attention', many people describe hypnosis as feeling similar to daydreaming, when they are neither fully alert, nor asleep.

Everyone experiences hypnosis in different and unique ways as all trance states feel different to different people.

Hypnosis is usually associated with a pleasant feeling of deep relaxation.

IF I'M HYPNOTISED, DO I GIVE UP CONTROL?

No, hypnosis is a streamlined state of focused attention, and is similar to when you are absorbed in a book, film, a sport, or a craft. You have the ability to emerge from hypnosis at any time , if you wish.

During the process, your hypnotherapist could be described as a guide, taking you on a journey; they are the facilitator, but any change can only be made by you.

DOES HYPNOTHERAPY WORK?

Hypnotherapy has the ability to work for most people, however some are more susceptible to suggestion than others.

For hypnotherapy to work, you need to be committed, open-minded and willing for positive changes to be made, while also feeling you can trust your hypnotherapist.

As trust is a key component, I offer a free consultation to allow you to meet me and ask any questions you may have, helping you to decide if I am the right hypnotherapist for you.
